ASSUMPTION PUBLIC SCHOOL THELPARA

The School is in an eco-friendly village of Thelpara, in Malappuram district. The area is filled with greenery especially rubber trees. From this one can easily assess that it is a middle class locality of farmers. The school began its first classes in 2012 in the convent as there was no school building yet. The vision is to create a society transformed by Gospel values, to reach out to new horizons to create an intellectually competent, just, equitable and harmonious society through quality education based on the principles of equality, justice, love and truth envisaging a holistic formation of personality of the individual. The community welcomes the tiny tots wholeheartedly who feel completely at home. The education provided in the family set up of the sisters enable the students to develop a strong family spirit to grow up in freedom.

 The foundation stone for the present building was laid by Mar Jose Porunnedam, the Bishop of Mananthawady on 22nd October 2012. The school building was inaugurated in March 2014 by the Superior General, Sr. Martine Tapsoba in the presence of her Council and many eminent personalities of the Church of Kerala and government officials. Mar Jose Porunnedam blessed the building. The second floor with more classrooms, hall and library was inaugurated and blessed in June 2017.

Following the footsteps of St. Marie Eugenie, the sister’s commit themselves to the process of education. The purpose of the school is not only to impart knowledge but also to nurture their intellectual, moral, emotional, physical and aesthetic faculties. Care is taken to cultivate in the pupils gentle behavior, habits of regularity, cleanliness as well as the natural virtues as taught by St. Marie Eugenie. Literary competitions and quiz programmes are held regularly to update their knowledge. Various competitions give them opportunities to develop their talents as well. The school also gives lot of emphasis to ecological concerns in the children. A number of activities are undertaken for the children and the staff to inculcate this ecological sense. Art and craft lessons, yoga, karate and dance classes are held which bring out colorful performances on annual day of the school. National festivals are celebrated to inculcate the spirit of patriotism. The school follows the syllabus of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and received the NOC in 2018.

The Religious of the Assumption and the faculty are guided by the virtues of transparency, discipline and accountability aimed at effective implementation of the pedagogy of the Assumption Education handed down to them by St. Marie Eugenie.  The teachers are working hard to give their best in order to bring out the best from every student!
