In the year 2011, as the part of restructuring of the Congregation and to respond to the needs of the local people the community advanced into a new venture. After sufficient investigation and reviewing the situation the sisters were clear that education would be the best service they can render to the people who are marginalized and illiterate. With the growing realization of the importance of pre-school education, the pre-primary school began in Piriaponch village in response to the request from the people of Piriaponch. The principle of education is based on the pedagogy of the Assumption. On 10th April 2012 the community started the ‘Assumption Nursery School’, Piriaponch with twelve students. Since the school building was not yet constructed, the classes were conducted in the garage or under the tree in the compound. Gradually the number of children increased. At the end of the year, there were eighty two children. In the year 2015 the construction of the building for the school was completed. As a result, the classes were shifted to the newly built building.

The pre-primary education helped to lay a firm and solid foundation in the growth of the children right from their tiny years. The children had the opportunity to celebrate the important national events of ‘Independence Day’ and ‘Republic Day’, feast days with parish school children and participate in other programmes as well. Besides, they celebrate Parent’s Day, Sports Day, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day and Christmas in order to bring out their talents and abilities. Parents are proud to see the performance of their children. Every year they conduct two examinations. The parents are called to collect the result so that the teachers have the chance to share the progress of each child as well as to motivate the parents towards their children’s education.

Majority of the children come from very poor families and are malnourished. Taking this into consideration the school applied for a nutrition project to Hilton Fund in the year 2013 and it was sanctioned. Therefore, the children could be given nutritious food like groundnuts, egg, black sugar, biscuits, fruits and sweets time to time. Every year sixty to eighty five new admissions are accepted to the school. The school sponsors to very poor children, since they have a project for education and social work. The community also initiated home visits to their families. The school has completed its ten years of mission. As a result, their hearts are filled with gratitude to God, to the Province and to the Congregation. They have been instrumental in God’s project for these children. The initial enthusiasm and pioneering spirit continued all throughout and continues even today!

From 2012 to 2021 the school educated four hundred and forty three kids of the locality. The community is proud to mention that some of their nursery students got enrolled in the Assumption English Medium School in Pandripani. They are pursuing their education in their school. The services of the sisters in developing the tiny tots are indeed commendable!
